The rules of golf allow for the use of a golf tee on each of the teeing areas of a golf course. The simple golf tee shouldn-t be overlooked as it is a very simple but integral part of the game. The tee affords the golfer an opportunity to create a better chance at striking a good golf shot on each of holes attempted to be played. The advantage of using a golf tee is that it provides an elevated “platform’ to place the golf ball which makes a tee shot much easier to hit than say a ball that is resting on the fairway. The reason is that since the ball is elevated there is much less of a chance that the golf club head will come in contact with the ground and can prevent any deflection the ground may cause. The driver, or number one club, is the most commonly used club off the teeing area and is designed specifically for hitting the golf ball off a tee, although all clubs used from the teeing area can take advantage of the use of a tee. All teaching professionals recommend the use of the golf tee no matter what the skill level of the golfer is.

There are different types of tees; there-s the classic wooden tee made with different lengths for different types of clubs; there-s the innovative “brush’ tee on which the ball is placed on stiff bristles which is supposed to reduce any adhesion to the ball and resulting in greater distance the ball can be hit. There is even the “eco’ tee which is made of fertilizer and when broken from hitting a golf shot, can be left to nourish the ground. Whatever the golfer-s choice, the tee is an important part of the game. The hits keep comin-: Gleneagles – PGA Centenary course
